MUCURINES gooseberry

MUCURINES is a widely grown, very productive European gooseberry variety suitable for home gardens and commercial growing. It produces large green fruit that turn green-yellow when fully ripe. The flesh is sweet-and-sour and very tasty. Plant the bush in a sunny location in light, moderately moist soil, ideally with pH 5.5-6.2.

The variety is highly resistant to American gooseberry mildew, fungal diseases and frost, which makes it common in commercial orchards.

Pruning has a strong effect on fruit size. Gooseberries produce most fruit on short shoots growing on 3- and 4-year-old bushes. During the first three years, prune to shape the bush. In later years, renew it by removing shoots aged five years or more in early spring or after harvest. A well-formed productive bush has 10-12 main shoots. Bare-root seedling.
