EMPRES plum

Empress is a very productive late variety developed in Germany. The fruit is elliptical and very large, 60-80 g, Hungarian-type. In the sun the skin is dark blue with a bloom; in shade it is blue-cherry with a bluish bloom and groove. The flesh is yellow or orange-tinged, firm, juicy and tasty, and the stone separates easily. Fruit ripens at the end of September or beginning of October and keeps for one month, or up to two in excellent conditions. Begins fruiting 3-4 years after planting. Cross-pollinating; good pollinators include President, Stanley and Valor.
