AURORA edible honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea)

Mid-early licensed variety bred in Canada. Aurora grows to about 1.5 m high and 1.2 m wide, forming a dense, compact, slightly spreading bush with upright shoots. It begins fruiting the year after planting and is very productive, yielding up to 6 kg per bush. The fruit ripens in mid-June and is large, 1.9-2.1 g and up to 3 cm long, cylindrical, sweet-and-sour, dessert-like, fleshy and juicy. The berries remain on the bush until the end of July and are easy to pick. They can be eaten fresh or used for compote, jelly, jam, wine and juice; dried berries are suitable for herbal teas.
