Autumn pear PETTEN

Autumn pear variety. The fruit is picked at the end of September or beginning of October and keeps until December, or longer in a refrigerator. The fruit is attractive, greenish-yellow and flushed in the sun, large (150-220 g), uniform in size and irregularly pear-shaped. The skin is medium-thick. The flesh is cream-coloured, juicy, semi-melting, lightly aromatic, slightly sweet and tasty, with grit only around the core. The trees begin fruiting in the fourth year and crop every year. They are medium-sized, winter-hardy, resistant to scab and brown rot. Grow in a normal, sheltered garden location in fertile, well-drained soil.
