ALIOŠENKIN grape

Very early, self-pollinating dessert grape. Large, branched clusters can weigh 1 kg or more. The medium-sized yellow berries are sweet and pleasant-tasting. Variety originates from Ukraine.

Grapevines can grow for decades, so prepare the planting hole carefully with good compost and soil pH 6.5-7. Plant 1-2 cm deeper than it grew in the pot. Provide support, ideally training shoots along stretched wires. When planting beside a wall, keep at least 40 cm away. Cover outdoors during cold winters. Prune moderately in winter, preferably in February.

The vigorous vine can reach 10-12 m depending on pruning, or about 5 m on supports when pruned well. Berries are sweet and aromatic, with fleshy pulp and thin skin, about 8-10 g; clusters can reach about 1 kg. Begins fruiting in the third or fourth year and crops abundantly every year. Pick from late July to August. Moderately frost-hardy to about -25°C and moderately resistant to fungal diseases; cover young plants for winter.
