JONKHEER VAN TETS redcurrant

Jonkheer van Tets (Ribes spicatum) is a well-known and valued variety grown in the Netherlands for decades. The vigorous bush reaches about 1.5 m. The variety is moderately productive but has very large, red berries with shiny skin and lightly sour flesh. Excellent for preserves, jams, compote and juice. The bush begins fruiting fairly early, and harvest runs from the end of June to July.

Growing and care: Very tolerant of low temperatures and frost-hardy to -28°C. Plant bushes 100-150 cm apart in fertile, humus-rich soil. Mineral fertiliser for berry bushes or natural manure or compost can be used to improve productivity.

Advantages: perennial bush, a source of vitamins, tasty fruit, frost-resistant and easy to grow.
